Storytellers for Peace invites storytellers, filmmakers, performers, writers, artists and anyone with a story to tell to take part in an international open call dedicated to peace.

We are looking for short original videos, no longer than two minutes, telling a story about peace.

It can be a true story or a fictional one.

It can be intimate or universal, poetic or humorous, dramatic or unexpected.

It can be about a person, a relationship, a community, a choice, a memory, a place or an idea.

Because peace is not only the absence of war.

Peace can be dialogue.

Reconciliation.

Dignity.

Understanding.

Coexistence.

Forgiveness.

Solidarity.

The courage to choose another way.

Tell us your story.

THE CHALLENGE

Create or choose a video of no more than two minutes telling a story about peace.

There is no required genre or production style.

We welcome:

• fiction;

• documentary;

• personal stories;

• theatre and performance;

• animation;

• poetry and spoken word;

• visual storytelling;

• experimental video;

• stories inspired by real events;

• stories created with a smartphone;

• any other form of storytelling.

Professional production is not required.

A powerful story is more important than an expensive production.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The call is international and open to anyone aged 18 or over.

There are no restrictions based on nationality or country of residence.

Participation is free.

You may participate individually or as part of a creative team, provided that the person submitting the video is at least 18 years old and has the necessary rights and permissions concerning the submitted work.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND US YOUR VIDEO

This is the simple part.

Publish your video on your own YouTube channel and send us the link.

No video file needs to be uploaded to Storytellers for Peace.

We recommend that the video be set to Public, so that people can discover both your story and your work as a storyteller.

You keep your video.

You keep your audience.

Storytellers for Peace will help discover, select and promote stories and storytellers from around the world.

CAN I SUBMIT A VIDEO I HAVE ALREADY MADE?

Yes.

The video does not have to have been created specifically for this open call.

You may submit a new video or a previously published video, provided that it meets the requirements of this call and that you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it.

Maybe you already have a story worth sharing.

LANGUAGE

Videos may be made in any language.

If the video is not in English, it must include English subtitles.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

It's simple:

1. Create or choose your video.

2. Upload it to your YouTube channel.

3. Make sure it is public.

4. Complete the Storytellers for Peace submission form.

5. Paste the YouTube link.

That's it.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SELECTED STORIES?

Storytellers for Peace will select a number of stories to be featured through its international network.

Selected videos may be:

• embedded on the Storytellers for Peace website;

• featured on the Storytellers for Peace YouTube channel;

• included in articles, playlists, presentations and communications related to the initiative;

• promoted with appropriate attribution to the original creator and, where possible, a link to the original YouTube video.

The original video remains on the creator's YouTube channel.

STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

A selection of outstanding stories may receive the:

STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

The selection will consider:

• the strength of the story;

• originality;

• storytelling ability;

• emotional or human impact;

• relevance to the idea of peace;

• the ability to communicate something meaningful within two minutes.

Technical production quality will not be the only or principal criterion.

A powerful story is more important than an expensive production.

There is no cash prize attached to the award.

The greatest opportunity is to have your story discovered and promoted through an international storytelling network.

International Open Call 2026

RULES AND TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

1. ORGANISER

The 2 Minutes for Peace – International Open Call 2026 is promoted by Storytellers for Peace.

The initiative aims to discover, promote and connect storytellers from different countries who use storytelling to explore, communicate or promote the idea of peace.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Participation is free and open internationally to individuals aged 18 or over at the time of submission.

There are no restrictions based on nationality, citizenship or country of residence.

Participants may submit an entry individually or as part of a creative team.

Where a team submits a video, the person completing the submission must be at least 18 years old and must have the authority to submit the work on behalf of the team where applicable.

3. THE VIDEO

Each submitted video must:

    • have a maximum duration of 2 minutes; 

    • concern or communicate a story related to peace; 

    • be an original work or be submitted with all necessary rights and permissions; 

    • be published on YouTube; 

    • preferably be set to Public; 

    • be available through the submitted YouTube link at the time of selection. 

Videos may have been created specifically for this open call or may have been published previously.

There is no minimum production quality requirement.

Any genre, format, technique or storytelling style is accepted.

4. LANGUAGE

Videos may be submitted in any language.

If a video is not in English, it must contain English subtitles.

5. SUBMISSION

Participants do not upload video files to Storytellers for Peace.

Participation takes place by:

    1. publishing the video on the participant's YouTube channel; 

    2. completing the official submission form; 

    3. providing the direct YouTube link; 

    4. confirming acceptance of these rules and the required declarations. 

The participant is responsible for ensuring that the submitted link works and that the video remains available until the selection process has been completed.

6. ORIGINALITY AND THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS

By submitting a video, the participant declares that:

    • they created the video or have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it; 

    • they have the necessary rights concerning music, images, texts, recordings and other third-party materials included in the video; 

    • the submission does not knowingly infringe copyright, neighbouring rights, privacy rights, image rights or other rights of third parties; 

    • where identifiable individuals appear in the video, the participant has obtained any permissions required for the intended use of the work. 

Storytellers for Peace may request additional information or evidence concerning rights and permissions where reasonably necessary.

7. RIGHTS AND LICENCE TO STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE

Participation does not transfer ownership of the submitted video to Storytellers for Peace.

The participant retains ownership and intellectual property rights in the work, subject to any rights belonging to third parties.

By submitting the video, the participant grants Storytellers for Peace a non-exclusive, free-of-charge permission to:

    • feature the submitted YouTube video; 

    • embed the video on the Storytellers for Peace website; 

    • share the original YouTube link; 

    • promote the video through Storytellers for Peace social media and communication channels; 

    • include the video in articles, playlists, presentations and other communications concerning the initiative; 

    • identify the participant as a participant or selected storyteller. 

Where technically possible, Storytellers for Peace will provide appropriate attribution and a link to the original YouTube video or channel.

The participant remains free to publish, distribute and exploit their work elsewhere.

8. USE OF THE ACTUAL VIDEO FILE

Storytellers for Peace will not automatically acquire the right to download, edit, reproduce or re-upload the original video file.

Should Storytellers for Peace wish to use the actual video file for a future compilation, documentary, offline screening, re-editing or other use beyond the activities described above, a separate permission may be requested from the copyright holder.

9. SELECTION

Storytellers for Peace will select videos based primarily on:

    • strength of storytelling; 

    • originality; 

    • narrative effectiveness; 

    • emotional or human impact; 

    • relevance to the idea of peace; 

    • ability to communicate a meaningful story within two minutes. 

Technical production quality will not be the sole or principal criterion.

The organisers may select as many or as few videos as they consider appropriate.

There is no obligation to select a predetermined number of entries.

10. STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

Selected works may receive the:

STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

The award is an honorary recognition and does not include a cash prize.

The organisers reserve the right not to assign the award if they consider that the submissions do not meet the expected standard.

11. STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE NETWORK

Authors of selected stories may be invited to join the international Storytellers for Peace Network.

Such an invitation does not create an employment relationship, agency relationship, exclusive representation agreement or other contractual relationship unless separately agreed in writing.

Participation in the network does not automatically imply selection for future projects.

12. DEADLINE

The submission deadline is:

1 December 2026 at 23:59 CET

Submissions received after the deadline may be excluded.

The organisers may extend the deadline if considered appropriate. Any extension will be communicated through the official Storytellers for Peace channels.

13. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

The open call will officially launch on:

21 September 2026 — International Day of Peace

The 2026 United Nations theme is:

“Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” 

The initiative will lead towards:

1 January 2027 — World Day of Peace

The official theme for the 2027 World Day of Peace is:

“Disarming Technology, Serving Peace. Politics as Preventive Responsibility.” 

The themes of these observances provide a symbolic framework for the initiative. Participants are not required to address either official theme specifically.

14. EXCLUSION

Storytellers for Peace may exclude a submission if:

    • the video exceeds two minutes; 

    • the video does not meet the language/subtitle requirements; 

    • the participant is under 18; 

    • the submitted link is unavailable; 

    • the participant cannot demonstrate the necessary rights or permissions; 

    • the submission knowingly infringes third-party rights; 

    • the content is unlawful; 

    • the content is incompatible with the aims and values of Storytellers for Peace; 

    • false or materially misleading information has been provided. 

15. CHANGES OR CANCELLATION

Storytellers for Peace reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the open call where circumstances make this necessary.

Any significant changes will be communicated through the official channels of Storytellers for Peace.

16. PERSONAL DATA

Personal data collected through the submission form will be processed for the purposes of:

    • administering the open call; 

    • communicating with participants; 

    • managing the selection process; 

    • contacting selected storytellers; 

    • managing participation in the Storytellers for Peace network where applicable. 

The applicable privacy notice will be made available through the submission form and/or the Storytellers for Peace website.

17. ACCEPTANCE

By submitting a video, the participant confirms that they have read and accepted these Rules and Terms of Participation and that the information provided is accurate to the best of their knowledge.

2. REQUISITI DI PARTECIPAZIONE

La partecipazione è gratuita ed è aperta a persone fisiche che abbiano compiuto 18 anni al momento della partecipazione.

Non sono previste limitazioni relative a nazionalità, cittadinanza o Paese di residenza.

È possibile partecipare individualmente oppure come parte di un gruppo creativo.

Nel caso di partecipazione di un gruppo, la persona che effettua l'iscrizione deve avere almeno 18 anni e, ove necessario, essere autorizzata a presentare l'opera per conto del gruppo.

3. CARATTERISTICHE DEL VIDEO

Ogni video presentato deve:

    • avere una durata massima di 2 minuti; 

    • raccontare o comunicare una storia relativa alla pace; 

    • essere un'opera originale oppure essere presentato disponendo di tutti i necessari diritti e autorizzazioni; 

    • essere pubblicato su YouTube; 

    • essere preferibilmente impostato come Pubblico; 

    • essere disponibile attraverso il link YouTube fornito al momento della selezione. 

Il video può essere stato realizzato appositamente per la presente open call oppure essere stato pubblicato precedentemente.

Non è richiesto alcun livello minimo di qualità tecnica.

Sono ammessi qualsiasi genere, formato, tecnica e stile narrativo.

4. LINGUA

I video possono essere realizzati in qualsiasi lingua.

Qualora il video non sia in lingua inglese, deve contenere sottotitoli in inglese.

5. MODALITÀ DI PARTECIPAZIONE

I partecipanti non devono caricare il file video sul sito o sui server di Storytellers for Peace.

La partecipazione avviene attraverso:

    1. pubblicazione del video sul proprio canale YouTube; 

    2. compilazione del modulo ufficiale di partecipazione; 

    3. inserimento del link diretto al video YouTube; 

    4. accettazione del presente regolamento e delle dichiarazioni richieste. 

Il partecipante è responsabile del corretto funzionamento del link fornito e della disponibilità del video fino al completamento della procedura di selezione.

6. ORIGINALITÀ E DIRITTI DI TERZI

Con la partecipazione, il partecipante dichiara:

    • di aver realizzato il video oppure di disporre dei diritti e delle autorizzazioni necessari per presentarlo; 

    • di disporre dei necessari diritti relativi a musiche, immagini, testi, registrazioni e altri materiali di terzi eventualmente presenti nel video; 

    • che la partecipazione non viola consapevolmente diritti d'autore, diritti connessi, diritti alla privacy, diritto all'immagine o altri diritti di terzi; 

    • che, qualora nel video compaiano persone identificabili, sono state ottenute le eventuali autorizzazioni necessarie per l'utilizzo previsto dell'opera. 

Storytellers for Peace potrà richiedere informazioni o documentazione aggiuntiva relativa ai diritti e alle autorizzazioni qualora ciò risulti ragionevolmente necessario.

7. DIRITTI CONCESSI A STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE

La partecipazione non comporta alcun trasferimento della proprietà del video a Storytellers for Peace.

Il partecipante conserva la proprietà e i diritti di proprietà intellettuale sull'opera, fatti salvi eventuali diritti appartenenti a terzi.

Con l'invio del video, il partecipante concede a Storytellers for Peace un'autorizzazione non esclusiva e gratuita a:

    • presentare il video YouTube; 

    • incorporare il video nel sito di Storytellers for Peace; 

    • condividere il link al video originale; 

    • promuovere il video attraverso i social media e i canali di comunicazione di Storytellers for Peace; 

    • includere il video in articoli, playlist, presentazioni e altre comunicazioni relative all'iniziativa; 

    • identificare il partecipante come partecipante o storyteller selezionato. 

Ove tecnicamente possibile, Storytellers for Peace indicherà l'autore e inserirà un collegamento al video o al canale YouTube originale.

Il partecipante rimane libero di pubblicare, distribuire e utilizzare la propria opera attraverso altri canali.

8. UTILIZZO DEL FILE VIDEO

Storytellers for Peace non acquisisce automaticamente il diritto di scaricare, modificare, riprodurre o ricaricare il file video originale.

Qualora Storytellers for Peace intendesse utilizzare il file video originale per una futura compilation, documentario, proiezione, rielaborazione o altra attività non ricompresa nelle finalità sopra indicate, potrà essere richiesta un'autorizzazione specifica al titolare dei diritti.

9. SELEZIONE

Storytellers for Peace procederà alla selezione sulla base principalmente di:

    • forza della narrazione; 

    • originalità; 

    • efficacia narrativa; 

    • impatto emotivo o umano; 

    • rapporto con il tema della pace; 

    • capacità di comunicare una storia significativa entro due minuti. 

La qualità tecnica della produzione non costituisce l'unico né il principale criterio di valutazione.

Gli organizzatori potranno selezionare il numero di video che riterranno opportuno.

Non è previsto un numero minimo o massimo predeterminato di opere selezionate.

10. STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

Le opere selezionate potranno ricevere il:

STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE AWARD

Il riconoscimento ha natura onorifica e non prevede un premio in denaro.

Gli organizzatori si riservano la facoltà di non assegnare il riconoscimento qualora ritengano che le opere ricevute non raggiungano il livello qualitativo atteso.

11. STORYTELLERS FOR PEACE NETWORK

Gli autori delle storie selezionate potranno essere invitati a entrare nel network internazionale Storytellers for Peace Network.

L'eventuale invito non determina un rapporto di lavoro, rappresentanza, agenzia, esclusiva o altro rapporto contrattuale, salvo diverso accordo scritto.

L'ingresso nel network non comporta automaticamente la partecipazione a futuri progetti.

12. SCADENZA

La scadenza per la partecipazione è fissata al:

1 dicembre 2026 alle ore 23:59 CET

Le partecipazioni ricevute oltre la scadenza potranno essere escluse.

Gli organizzatori potranno prorogare la scadenza qualora lo ritengano opportuno. Eventuali proroghe saranno comunicate attraverso i canali ufficiali di Storytellers for Peace.

13. GIORNATA INTERNAZIONALE DELLA PACE

La open call sarà ufficialmente lanciata il:

21 settembre 2026 — Giornata internazionale della pace

Il tema scelto dalle Nazioni Unite per il 2026 è:

“Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” 

L'iniziativa condurrà quindi verso:

1 gennaio 2027 — Giornata mondiale della pace

Il tema ufficiale della Giornata mondiale della pace 2027 è:

“Disarming Technology, Serving Peace. Politics as Preventive Responsibility.” 

I temi delle due ricorrenze costituiscono la cornice simbolica dell'iniziativa. Non è obbligatorio che i video partecipanti affrontino specificamente tali temi.

14. ESCLUSIONI

Storytellers for Peace potrà escludere una partecipazione nei seguenti casi:

    • durata del video superiore a due minuti; 

    • mancato rispetto dei requisiti linguistici o relativi ai sottotitoli; 

    • partecipante di età inferiore ai 18 anni; 

    • link non disponibile; 

    • impossibilità di dimostrare il possesso dei diritti o delle autorizzazioni necessari; 

    • violazione consapevole di diritti di terzi; 

    • contenuto contrario alla legge; 

    • contenuto incompatibile con gli scopi e i valori di Storytellers for Peace; 

    • fornitura di informazioni false o sostanzialmente fuorvianti. 

15. MODIFICHE O ANNULLAMENTO

Storytellers for Peace si riserva il diritto di modificare, sospendere o annullare la open call qualora circostanze sopravvenute lo rendano necessario.

Eventuali modifiche sostanziali saranno comunicate attraverso i canali ufficiali di Storytellers for Peace.

16. DATI PERSONALI

I dati personali raccolti attraverso il modulo di partecipazione saranno trattati per le finalità connesse a:

    • gestione della selezione; 

    • contatto con gli storyteller selezionati; 

    • eventuale gestione della partecipazione al network Storytellers for Peace. 

L'informativa privacy applicabile sarà resa disponibile attraverso il modulo di partecipazione e/o il sito di Storytellers for Peace.

17. ACCETTAZIONE

Con l'invio del video, il partecipante dichiara di aver letto e accettato il presente Regolamento e le Condizioni di partecipazione e che le informazioni fornite sono corrette per quanto a sua conoscenza.
